Text

A primitive Value Type representing unstructured string data.

type: data-model · status: draft · abstraction: instance

What it is

Text stores plain, unformatted string data. It is the basic primitive for names, short notes, references and other text that the platform does not need to calculate or interpret semantically.

A Text Property may use a single-line or multiline plain-text input. It never stores formatting; content requiring headings, lists, emphasis or links uses Rich Text instead. Property configuration may apply sensible length and input constraints without changing the underlying Value Type.

Why it exists

Not every piece of information is structured or semantic. We need a fallback primitive to capture raw intent or simple identifiers. Text is the universal catch-all for data that needs to be read by humans rather than calculated by the platform.

Stakeholder summaries

  • Product — The go-to property configuration for any user-defined notes, custom string names, or arbitrary text metadata.
  • Investor — The fallback structure ensuring absolute system flexibility; no workflow is completely blocked because of a lack of a semantic box.
  • Marketing — Write freely. Add notes, references, and any non-standard information instantly on any record.
  • Engineering — A base-level string primitive designed to hold unformatted or basic structural copy for non-calculated data storage.
